#stonegypsy rules & guidelines

1. Stone Gypsy will not be held responsible for content encountered in its chatroom. Internet Relay Chat is an unmediated open forum, and therefore is vulnerable to those it attempts to serve. Measures have been taken to minimize this risk as much as possible. If this is your first IRC chatting experience, new wonders await.

2. Abuse will not be tolerated. This is a broad statement, intentionally. Only if you were ruining someone's good time by being generally combative and/or disruptive in a bar would you expect to be bounced. The same thing will happen here.

3. Spamming will not be tolerated. Any outside advertisers will be immediately banned. This includes ads for other chatrooms on Dalnet. Repeating text into the chatroom will be warned, then banned.

4. This is an English-speaking chatroom. It's ok to discuss how to say "house" in French, for example, but if you start blathering away in a different language, chances are you're not going to be understood. If this is done repeatedly, you will be directed elsewhere to find your IRC home.

5. All new users will be given a nickname to start with. This is so that you can connect. The nickname will be GypsyFan0000 (with some random combination of numbers at the end). Once connected, you may change your nickname to anything that isn't already in use on Dalnet, however, nicknames made up of foul language or sex content will be ejected from #stonegypsy. To do this, just type /nick (whatever your new nick is) (with one space in between) into the chat window. There are certain characters that you can't use in a nickname, but those are few, and the server will give directions in that case.

6. Leaving the chat page will disconnect you. If you find yourself disconnected by accident, wait a few moments before attempting to reload the webpage.
